600th ANNIVERSARY WALL HANGING
On Sunday 25 November there will be a service, in the School Chapel, during which our splendid new commemorative wall-hanging will be dedicated. The hanging depicts six historic scenes from the history of Oswestry School. We hope you will be able to join us. Read more.
OSWESTRY SCHOOL 600 FOUNDER'S DAY SERVICE
The Oswestry School 600 Founder's Day Service will take place on Saturday 24 November at 11am in St Oswald's Parish Church. This is a very special occasion when current and former pupils, parents and friends of the school meet together to celebrate its foundation by David Holbache and give thanks for those who have supported the school through its long history. 'HERITAGE OPEN DAYS 2007'
On Saturday 8 September the School will open its doors for the 'Heritage Open Days 2007'. The morning will begin with a talk from Christopher Symons, author of the recently published 'Oswestry School, A Commemorative History 1407-2007, on the history of the School followed by an accompanied tour of the Chapel and Archive Room. GCSE Results
The overall pass rate (for grade C and above) was 87.2%, compared with a national average of 63.3%. Over 9 out of 10 of all the pupils obtained 5 or more grade Cs and above. A third of passes were at grades A or A*, 63.4% at grade B or above. When you consider nearly a third of the pupils in this group were working in their second language these results are even more remarkable. Read more.

Oswestry School continues to maintain its excellent record at A level:indeed no fewer than 12 out of 15 subjects had 100% pass rate. Read more.
MUSICIANS URGENTLY WANTED!
On Saturday 13 October, as part of our OS600 celebrations, we are holding a concert in St Oswalds Parish Church for past and present pupils and staff of Bellan House and the Senior School. We plan to have a band, orchestra and choir as well as a string chamber group, soloists and other small groups. As this concert is from 'scratch' we will rehearse in the afternoon for the concert at 7.30pm. We URGENTLY need musicians, at least Grade 5, for our band and orchestra. Chris Symons book 'Oswestry School, A Commemorative History 1407 - 2007' is now available at the School Shop, via mail order and at OS600 events, priced £10. The book is a very easy read and beautifully presented. A 'must buy' for anyone associated with our School. Everyone involved in the OS600 celebrations would like to thank Chris for his assitance, sharing of knowledge and patience over the last 12 months. Read more.

An Evening with Robert Hardy
The Robert Hardy visit on Friday 4 May was a huge success and we are very grateful to Robert for his time and superb talk on the longbow. The evening was a 'sell out'and by popular demand he kindly agreed to carry out a book signing. Read more.
Living History - an afternoon of medieval entertainment.
On Friday 4 May our pupils, plus pupils from visiting local schools, were treated to a talk from the former Childrens Laureate Michael Morpurgo. The talk was followed by an afternoon of medieval entertainment including horseback combat and displays of archery and birds of prey. Read more.
ROYAL VISIT CONFIRMED
We are delighted that in recognition of the School's 600th anniversary HRH The Duke of Gloucester will be visiting us on Thursday 14 June 2007. We will post more information regarding the visit as and when we receive it. Read more.
Reform Club Dinner Sold Out - Tickets for The Ivy still available
All tickets for the OO's Reform Club Dinner, on 18 May, have been sold but there are still tickets available for The Ivy Dinner on Friday 28 September. A.A Gill wrote 'A table at The Ivy is one of the most sought-after pieces of furniture in London'. Read more.

The beginning of Trinity term sees the School hosting a busy timetable of events with visits from two well known figures from the arts. Read more.

'Etching Soiree'. On Thursday 22 March we are hosting an evening with Jason Hicklin RE. Jason regularly demonstates to the Friends of the Royal Academy so we are delighted he has been able to offer the School a similar evening. Read more.
